Yet another reason I am a U of U fan! Now all I need to do is convince Scott!
Monday’s edition of The Daily Universe ran a photo of several leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at this weekend’s General Conference. A caption below the photo read, in part, “… the Quorum of the Twelve Apostates…” instead of Apostles.
Proof read? Not at BYU!

I hate to admit this, but Scott and I haven’t really gone on a vacation since 2004. We have taken mini vacations up to Sundance, but nothing farther away. We finally went to Zion National Park. I LOVE this place. I grew up going down there, so it’s one of the first places I always think of for vacations. We went down with my family. We left Thursday really early. My thinking was the kids will sleep on the way down. WRONG! Parker finally fell to sleep right before we hit St. George. We had so much fun hiking, playing in the sand, flying kites and being with one another. We were lucky enough to get to stay in a “pink house.” Meredith loved it! Parker loved that it still had Christmas lights on it! (they weren’t turned on.)
The weather was beautiful. It was pretty chilly in the morning, but once the sun hit the canyon floor it warmed right up. (In fact, now that we are home it’s pretty cold here!) All of us got a little sun. (Some of us more than others…Scott) We had a wonderful time, and now hope the kids get plenty of rest now that we are home. All of us are pretty exhausted!

A couple of weeks ago we went and got Parker a “Big Boy Bed.” He has been so excited to sleep in it. Here is the bedspread I picked out…I am so sad that he is growing so big–I haven’t let him sleep in the bed yet, except for one nap time!!! I did almost let him sleep in it one night. After he fell to sleep I went to check on him and he was upside down and backwards so I put him back in the crib! I guess I’d better try again this week!

The forces in the universe were against me while I was doing laundry this week. A little elf decided to hide crayons in his/her pockets of their pants without my knowing. This of course resulted in me having a batch of darks being turned blotchy red. (WHY is it always red) I got most of it out, but Parker and I have a few things that are pretty much ruined.
LESSON LEARNED: Buy all red clothing…

This is so fun! I found this on the web and thought I would give it a try. It requires freezer paper, fabric paint, an iron, and a computer. You can find the freezer paper in the paper goods section of your grocery store. (Of course I got mine at Walmart!) Find a cute picture on the internet. I created my own, since I knew what I wanted. I cut my freezer paper to 8 x 10 and ran it through the printer. (Making sure the waxy side of the paper was NOT the side I printed on. Next, take an x-acto knife and cut the picture out saving only the white part. (Pictures are to follow.) After cutting everything out, iron on the freezer paper onto your fabric. You will need to also iron on a piece inside the fabric so it won’t bleed through. Now paint over the freezer paper using it as a stencil. Let it dry for about 24 hours. Now you’re done!
Anyone who knows me knows I always try to come up with new things to do with vinyl. This whole x-acto knife thing seemed like a pain in the butt and I knew I needed words cut out. I decided to try vinyl lettering on this. It worked like a charm! But you do need to peel off the vinyl words before it’s dry…Otherwise I don’t know if they will come off. After the paint is dry, iron over the top again using the freezer paper. I think it is so cute and easy. There’s a new fun thing to try with vinyl lettering or if you have more patience then me try the freezer paper!

It’s a few weeks late, but I have a new vinyl creation. What makes them an added bonus? They are so easy! It’s on a canvas (I bought mine at Joanns) but they also have them at Walmart. I painted mine black, I am doing a set for my sister in law using red and white vinyl and can’t wait to see how they turn out!

You know how you are always looking for a cute birthday gift for a friend or loved one? Well, I found one that I will be using! (Sorry to everyone who now knows what they will be getting!) Check this out! It is called a “Bath Sundae” it’s super easy–which I LOVE! (Though it did take my mom and me all Saturday to track everything down and still I find myself improvising!)
What you do is go to a coffee shop and beg, borrow or buy a plastic iced coffee cup with the lid. Get one cup and lid, purchase bath salts or make your own. Purchase a small bath poof and a straw. I’m sure you can find the boring old straw at the coffee shop, but I found mine at Shopko. I love them! They are all pastel colors. I went to pay for a package of 250. When the lady checked me out, she said my total was .27 cents. I ran back and got 2 more packages! Now I have 750 straws-so if you need a straw I might be able to part with one, or two or a dozen! Anyway, back to my cute project. Fill the cup with bath salts and put the bath poof on top, add the straw. Now is the part I am still trying to figure out.
Add a RED bath bead as the “cherry.” I went to about 10 different stores looking for red bath beads and didn’t find any. SO…I made my own. It doesn’t look as cute, but what’s a girl to do? I need the gift tomorrow! (If anyone knows where to get red bath beads let me know) I found this cute poem on line and added it to the gift.
This very special sundae,
will leave you feeling great.
It’s chocked full of good things,
even though it can’t be ate.
Take it in the bath with you.
Of course don’t take a sip.
’cause it may look delicious,
but it’s made to take a dip!
I made a card that looked like bubbles and added the poem. I think it turned out so cute. You are done! There you have a darling gift that didn’t break the bank!

Scott and I decided it was time for us to get our food storage room finished. We didn’t really know what we had in food storage, but knew we needed to get more of it. My dad has been coming over on Saturdays and his days off of work to get it done for us. He finished it yesterday! I am so thankful to him and his willingness to help us out. I also love it because I put some of our lesser used appliances down there–now I have more pantry space! Also here is picture of my dad and Parker. Dad also looked at our dryer while he was here. Parker decided he was going to help. He ran in and get his Bob the Builder hammer, wrench and screwdriver. It was super cute!

It’s really been a long time since I blogged?! There is a lot going on in our household lately. Look at these darling silhouettes of the kids. Don’t you love them? They are the latest and greatest item in our vinyl line.
I LOVE how they turned out. Next week, stay tuned for the next project with vinyl!
